The Sports Labor Market Study promoted by the Catalan Sports Observatory was launched out of the need to understand the working conditions of people who have graduated in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (CAFE) and in sports vocational training programs. The challenge has been to obtain an up-to-date view of the sector, identify its evolution, and analyze how professional outlets, areas of specialization, and job satisfaction have changed. The fourth edition of the study has updated the 2014 data and provided useful evidence to advance the regulation of sports professions.
To address this challenge, the study's structure, the fieldwork methodology, and the data analysis model have been defined. In this process, at Itik Consultoría we provided the technical expertise needed to turn the collected information into an up-to-date snapshot of the sports labor market. Based on the data obtained, a report has been prepared on the employment situation of individuals with sports qualifications, and the main changes occurring in the sector have been identified. The evolution of professional fields was analyzed, showing a 15% reduction in teaching roles and an increase in employment in management and in areas related to maintenance and health. Job satisfaction, new career paths, and the progressive diversification of the job market were also studied.
